Nominee's Accomplishments at the High School Level in Kentucky:

In his 36 years as a head football coach, Mr. Becherer accumulated over 225 wins, including several trips to the State Championship, which he won in 1987 as head coach at Shelby County. Becherer took an assistant coaching position at Collins HS after retiring from Shelby County, helping the Titans win the state championship in 2013. His leadership continued off the field, being named Kentucky Colonel, Outstanding FCA Coach, and Legends Award Winner from the Louisville Football Association. Tom Becherer played football at UK. As a contributor/coach over six decades, he was instrumental in: 1) the return of football to Maysville KY in 1966, 2) leading the merger of Shelbyville High and Shelby County High School and taking them to numerous playoff runs including a KHSAA State Runner-up finish in 1976, 1977 and 1993 and a State Championship in 1987, 3) Leading Christian Academy to their first win in program's early history in 2000, and 4) Assisting Martha Layne Collins to a State Runner up Finish in 2012 and State Championship in 2013. Coach Becherer was awarded Coach of the Year honors multiple times and was named to the Legends of the GLFCA in 2003.
